No Longer His Butterfly

He woke me up
at 5 a.m.
Said he couldn't do this
He wasn't a family man
No he didn't want to sacrifice
or live in poverty
with a young family
Said I was just a toy
And that he never loved
my girl and boy

So he packed his bags
And he said goodbye
Maybe for a minute
I thought I would die

No longer his butterfly
No longer his butterfly
No longer his butterfly
I think I'll flutterby

He's not ashamed
of himself at all
He wants to party
Do drugs and alcohol
He wants his cake
and to eat it all

He's just another selfish man
Throwing love into a garbage can
I wish that he could understand
what life is all about
He decided to abandon me
and leave us here in poverty
cuz he don't want a family
No chance to work it out

He woke me up
at 5 a.m.
Said he couldnt do this
He wasn't a family man
No he didn't want to sacrifice
or live in poverty
with a young family
Said I was just a toy
And that he never loved
My girl and boy

So he packed his bags
And he said goodbye
Maybe for a minute
I thought I would die

No longer his butterfly
No longer his butterfly
No longer his butterfly
I think I'll flutterby

I love the way you react to the brokenness and certainty of a lost love. There are many ways to soften the blow.... You seem to have done very well in accepting the reality of it all..... One of the better things that come out of these situations is they become seeds for great poems..... You have planted and nurtured this one very well..... I can't help but believe he missed a chance at a great life with a dynamite woman..... Love Ya...... Jake
