No Halves Needed

*Note: in retrospective response to my poem, Three Halves* ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I was a lump of clay awaiting inspiration, Filled with potential, yet without formation. Now I am shapeless, free to roam the skies, My body, it seems, is made of butterflies. And they are preparing to explode into life, In every direction, from the joy to the strife. I have had my first love, I have had the bliss, I have had the pleasure, yet none do I miss. I had thought I was missing the parts to my whole, All the searching, I know now, has taken its toll, I have learned that I need nothing but what is me, They had made me believe I was broken, you see. We’ve no castle on a cloud, nor one on the ground, But this I don’t care, for in you I have found A completeness of self, I am missing no part, I have no lost pieces, I am Kintsugi art. Every moment we share is a page in our book, One day we’ll reflect on the journey we took. We take turns writing words, thinking each letter through, And when the time comes I will read it to you. Though it will not be easy, I can already see, I embrace it with pride, you are worth it to me. For I’d thought I would settle for less than I planned, But now I will thrive, for you’ll be my man.
