Nineteen Hours

Nineteen hours to strip away, As time devours every day, And beats the clock 'till black and blue, All distance closed with thoughts of you. Nineteen hours are counted down, In empty spaces, town to town; I walk the line mapped out in vain, And long to be with you again. Nineteen hours parting us By plane or train or car or bus; In morning, noon or day or night, Feeds the need to hold you tight. Nineteen hours turns the key, Unchains the aching heart of me, And fades to mist when all is said When we have all our lives ahead.
