Nimbus Attack

Nimbus Attack Nimbus black split by metallic, orange, silver crack, Eyes sharply smitten, ears hand pressed, bottom lip bitten, face contorted, grimacing, wincing, waiting, not for a second long, through wicked wind’s harsh song, the feared bastion breaker, that thunderous earth shaker, unseen, piggy backed on lightning’s track. Adrenaline screams through my veins, heart pounding, rapid breathing reigns. Wait. Of a sudden, Nimbus black rolls back, Jaws slack, lips relax, eyes open, ears released, facial contortions ceased. A fresh almost floral scent rides on a wafting breeze. Sunlight peeks through that lightning split tree. All is calm. The storm is spent. It’s peaceful as you please.

Welcome back to Poetry Soup, Rob. You should see the contortions on my face when a bolt of lightning appears out of nowhere. (You must have had some of the lightning we experienced the other night.) Enjoyed your poem, my friend. Congratulations on your win in Brian's contest! Best wishes, Carolyn
