Nimbus

Near the river,children,
newly married women,
neighbours and relations
neatly dressed, wear threads on
necks, men wear threads on wrists
Next aarti's shown, to greet
Nation's pride Cauvery

Note:
South Indians rely on River Cauvery for the irrigated agriculture.Since the river experiences water flow seasonally, people are always excited to welcome and they celebrate the day(the water comes from the dam) as AADI PERUKKU. During this day, they tie knots on their necks and welcome the water by showing aarti(a form of puja, where the light from mudllamp and camphor along with flowers are offered) and peform several rituals.

Supraja, I am so glad you were able to share this Indian festival with us through the Pleiades form. It's hard to pack so much information in such a restrictive form. Well done! Congrats on your 2nd place win! Blessings, Kim

Very short , yet it carries a message and conveys feeling. The words are simplicity themselves, but in context they speak volumes on the mind frame, hopes, admissions and culture of the author. Emile.
