Nightmare
Still I try to awaken
From this nightmare
I know I must go on
But the pain is never-ending
Like a fire
A simple spark at first
Then it grows with intensity
Until your world
Is engulfed in flames
A part of you is going
And never more can be replaced
You seek comfort
Yet none is to be found
You are running down
A lonesome dark hallway
With no end in sight
Yet, you run
Never missing a step
Nor slowing
You feel your eyes start to burn
Yet no tears will fall
For they have dried
Like a lake in a dessert
In the heat of summer
Now your mind is racing
Like a fan spiraling out of control
Nothing can be changed
History is written
Just one more minute you seek
Oh, how you wish
You could turn back time
Just simply to say goodbye
If only you could
Hear her voice once more
However, you can not
If only she could
Tell you everything would be ok
Like she did when you were a child
However, she can not
If only you could
See her grin with that stupid smirk
One more time
However, you can not
If only you could
Cry on her shoulder
Feeling her comforting embrace
However, you can not
If only you could
Say you’re sorry
But you had to stand your ground
However, you can not
If only you could
Have erased her pain
However, you could not
If only she could
Have turned that life away
However, she could not
If only she had
Stopped that night
However, she did not
If only you had said
“I love you” that last time
However, you did not
If only she were
Still here
However, she is not
If only you could
Awaken from this nightmare
That is now became your life
However, you will not
