Nightmare

A. W. Nutter

Consciousness in full retreat
Body surrendering to fatigue
Spiritual takeover is complete
Viewing a hallway of intrigue

The corridor seems endless
On each side, doors aligned
Physical body lays defenseless
Spiritual vacation in my mind

One word adorns each door
My inner ear, hears the names
My image cowers on the floor
 Opening the one named games

This trip, becomes monotonous
Too satisfy a dead mans desires
Delivered to the realm of the sadist
Every night, the same nightmare

An adult, transforms into a child
As the spawn of Satan approaches
Waves of pain, the body defiled
Door shuts as sunlight encroaches

Screams pierce the quiet morning
Bound tightly, in sweaty sheets
Realizing I'm the one screaming
Tired of walking on horror street

Grip on sanity, becoming pointless
Nightly reliving the sadists attacks
Use to believe dreams were harmless
Until seeing the wounds upon my back

Hello Anthony, stopping by to say hi, and take a look at your poem. I was wondering if you could direct me to any poem you have written under tears, or a loss.... I'm sorry for asking... But, I wish to read something that will show me the sanity of others, while under certain emotions... sorry if I just confused you... always~ Linda

Yes, it was a bit of a nightmare, Anthony! - Good written and good fantasy (or maybe it was a real nightmare) - Wishing you sweet dreams in the future. - Nice to read something from you again. - oxox / / Anne-Lise :)
