NIGHT THOUGHS
a day so fine - no ill in mind
a day spent free - nothing haunting me
now, I lay me down - they come around
those bad night thoughts - those night bad thoughts –
spun off devils carousel to show me twisted hell
they come at night - they enter my head
when out the light and covered in bed -
lay down content then it is spent
with such darkness my good is bent
i fight fears madness to keep my joy
that bedtime covets like a favorite toy
good is erased my sleep chased
when in bed sorrow hits my face
grows in my head clutches my heart
heaves my chest steals my breathe
and stabs to nab senseless tears
the devil seems fit to test my grit
more and more the older i get -
he speeds his carousel to grow fears well
it is a night battle i thus far handle
but remain unable to totally dismantle
come morn come internal joy
come night come devils decoy
