Night Sway
Dust descends and day is done,
Darkness lays a restive spread;
Evening ushers new puns,
Hear the night owl in the glades.
This starry nocturne reveals
A cast of night time charades;
Deep dark propels a strange feel,
Cicadas and frogs spark trade.
Outside our window a burst:
Fireflies in aerial flirting;
Somnolent hours spawn a thirst:
Night creatures prowl dark settings.
This countryside escapade
Feeds trends that illuminate;
Fatigue finds rest here instead
Of city dwellers debate!
A weekend away from home:
A country cottage retreat;
To seek and find yet not roam
Too far from civilised streets.
Time for thoughts and surge of rhymes,
Feel the rhythm and the urge;
Ink the wonder in fond chimes,
Pen pleasant surprise and merge.
Let the rustic charms echo
Imagery that tells why
Our modern lives seem hollow
In afterglows and sad sighs.
Words ooze with easy feelings,
Jerky yet smooth in plain pitch;
Thoughts that crowd meandering,
To scratch and soothe the sore itch.
Shadows dance in twilight moon,
Night citizens on the prowl;
Observe the bright midnight noon,
Listen to the preaching owl!
Soon sleepy moods must mingle
With dreams that come out to play;
Drowsy sensations tingle
As cold night winds breeze away.
