Night Ii

I have been fine all day,
Kept up that smile and tried to be kind
But that one thing you say
Makes me forget, leave that behind.
We are on the phone, I’m holding it together
I feel I can do this, can stay strong forever.
Then you say “Bye, I love you,”
The realisation that this
Is the end of our conversation
And that we are miles apart
Pulls the trigger and shots down
My courage.
I miss you.
