Night

t'is dark
no city lights
the stars
twinkle sparkle
so bright
send their beams
into the night

clean and clear
the vision
passing shadows
of clouds
transparent opaque
so close so near

one sudden flare
of brilliant movement
captures my eye
flashes 'cross the sky
and i was there
to see it die

such wndrous beauty
steals my breath
quickens my pulse
captivates my soul
and for this small part
time forgets death
