I can’t believe a year has passed without you near.
A harsh year without your smile only replaced by tears
No one truly knows why you ended your life, alone in a jail cell late at night.
I thought you to be safety tucked just away in prison
You hung yourself with no one present
You were a child I loved, I could of helped make things right.
The loss I feel without you a heavy presence on my mind.
Sitting at the gravesite feels cold and unkind.
What I wouldn’t give to hear your voice one last time.
To touch your hand in reassurance where you stand
To let you know how much I care.
