Newfoundland Summer
Of all the seasons, summer has the slowest pace;
days of sun and relaxation, days of grace;
a chance to unwind from the rat race,
a chance to share - or find your own - space.
Summer solstice, upon its arrival
brings with it an unspoken urge to be idle,
and where I come from it is of great import
to enjoy summer while we can because it is so short.
With our maritime climate we know
that although the fog will roll and the wind will blow,
the sun will inevitably come out and shine
and we will enjoy the days of roses and wine.
