New Year's Eve
On New Year's Eve, friends gather each year,
to wish old acquaintances good cheer.
Amidst the festivities, hopes bloom:
and as spirits rise, smiles fill the room.
Inebriated friends feel sublime;
sharing a ritual locked in time.
Written in gradient shades of blue,
failed resolutions get vowed anew.
Worries of yesterday disappear;
merging with tomorrow's unborn fear.
And eyeing the clock's unbroken stare:
anticipation charges the air.
Hugs morph into tearful erasers;
as shots get followed by beer chasers.
The feelings are real, though short-lived:
sifting truths, from past ashes sieved.
Time advances, and seconds erode;
until spontaneous cheers explode!
As goodwill excels, fueled by love:
spirits soar, high as the clouds above.
