New Writers Take Heed

New Writers Take Heed
By Franklin Price
6/2/2015

New writers take heed
Of the words I write here
I'm not well known at all
Want to make that quite clear

These words of advice
May establish a link
Try them on for size
And see what you think

Write for yourself
Of what touches you
Feel what you write
It's what you should do

Humorous serious
Political droll
Write of your feelings
From deep in your soul

Put down your opinions
What you think about
Makes you laugh or cry
To be silent or shout

Be true to yourself
As you write along
If that's what you do
Then you'll never go wrong

I don't mean to be nosy but how is you husband? I am really happy for you that you have found such a calling. I really enjoy writing. I had a cancer operation about 2 1/2 years ago. So far so good. I started writing again because of my 50th high school reunion. Can't stop; don't want to. Thanks for sharing your life with me.

I started writing after my hubby had cancer surgery - I had never penned a poem before and it has totally transformed my life with a creativity and self confidence I never had before - when we go back to school in 2 weeks time I have been asked to do a 2nd talk to 6th formers on creative writing and then a follow up session - would never in a million years have dreamed my husbands cancer would bring me such joy! Hugs Jan xx

I knew you were something special when I read your poems the first time you commented. We must be our own best friends and true to ourselves. Thanks for the attitude we have in common.
