New Songs

Have you noticed since the millenial
The difference in songs that we now find
I used to know all the lyrics I heard
Haven't heard a word since 1999

I know the words to 'bout a thousand tunes
All before this new age has come along
Can't understand the lyrics they now play
Why do they bother to write a new song

Some have said that it's only my old age
I say something happened in all the stars
The new millenium has changed the art
Words are jumbled by Jupiter and Mars

Why would they write lyrics you cannot hear
And put them in a song you cannot sing
Frank Sinatra and Dean rolled in their graves
As I just shake my head and think of Bing

So I think of "Those Were The Days My Friend"
"Yesterday" always comes into my head
It must be a change in the Galaxy -
Why else would we claim Elvis isn't dead
