New Season 19

Slowly spring unfolded. The trees all abud now and througout the forest floor Daffodils had sprung up it seemed overnight.Looking over at Arlis holding his daughter with a look of total besotted love, her mother warmly looking on as their son crowded in to soak up this lovefest,Suzanne felt perfectly expendable. Both Arlis and Francie still carefully concealed their feelings as best they could but love was blooming. Her decision came to her in the middle of the night after weighing and sifting for hours in her sleep. It was time for her to go.She asked Sam to go with her to bag a pheasant and he had happily agreed.Since their night in the trenches when Francie gave birth Sams admiration for Suzanne had grown with each day.The strength and innovation she employed impressed him greatly. While sitting under a large oak after scoring two birds they rested and talked freely. "Sam,I have a proposition I want to present you,Suzanne began." Shoot, had been his quick reply. "I am thinking of heading out towards the Carolinas, particularly the Appalachians .That is where my people landed when they came here and I feal I want to return there. Are you interested in accompanying me ?,she boldly put to him. As they forty fived the tree trunk they sat comfortably shoulder to shoulder, a position that each had grown comfortable with. Later she took out a Pen writing out a certificate of divorce .paperwork comp!eted she slept soundly and as her usual awoke before all else.As she stirred the cookfire which also chased the morning chill Arlis joined her. She asked him to go with her to the spring .When they got there she removed the decree from her pocket and held it under the torch light for him to read.In it she had thanked him for their time and wished him the very best but stated their time had concluded. He looked at Suzanne not fully understanding and said. This isn't necessary. Dreams never are Arlis, are they?, her smiling reply.Removing the pen she had him sign both copies below her own signature. At breakfast they made the announcement.Through tearful protests all Were assured they would see each other again.Arlis stood up and said ,Suze You have taught me many things but the greatest is the importance of doing things the right way.In that spirit I would like to ask You Francie to be my wife. Sam and Suzanne stayed long enough to celebrate alongside their friends then began their own story. One of adventure .One of love, loyally lovingly proffered .
