New Poem
See I’ve been pondering why life is so f--ked up
Political wars cause tears of anguish to naïve cultures
Sorrow massaging self inflicted wounds before we realized we split our own wrist
I’m screaming for a savior in a world of solitude
Screaming FREE US FROM BONDAGE AND OPPRESSION
Wishing my echoes would stop whispering my own words to only my ears
Wishing that America would stop provoking unwanted fears
As generations pass pessimistic thoughts through dying years
Eyes bleeding from seeing youth fill their appetite with loneliness and quench their thirst from
tears
Now I’m on my knees yelling a little louder “free us from this bondage!” to the unknown
Red white and blue veins torn from the flesh of civilization
As an unlikely hero rises
I watch him rise covered in our lies, scars from our racism, bruised in our sin
He still rises, he still rises , such a man of power as he slowly makes his stand
Eyes of equality, justice, and change, he’s ready to reclaim righteousness
He’s ready to heal the youth, kiss the now, and wash the hands of the old
I stop my pointless screams and stare
Stare into the eyes of a new
I stare into the eyes of you
