Never Too Old

It’s late at night and I can’t sleep
there’s something wrong, just out of reach

Alarm is set, the dog is bathed
laundry’s done, the bills are paid

Kids are sleeping, their jammies on
lights are out, the dishes done

Yet something’s missing, out of place
I feel adrift, lost out in space

There’s so much danger, so easy to fall
and I’m the adult, in charge of it all

Then it hits me like a bomb
I’m just scared, I want my Mom!!!
