Never To Return

Listen to words of accepted thought
 Along the path our courses led;
But all of hope has gone astray
 Vanished long ago,
Never to return!

Oh spirit, reveal a yester night
When day lit beams have fled,
For lost are they who lead us on
Down a road we’ve long to tread,
Never to return!

Talk of a belief so eloquently,
And of what the heart instills,
Until a semblance of all that’s past
 Is bound to simple thought,
Never to return!

Shall wise men’s thought instill to he
 In darkness calm and still,
That hidden thoughts have gone astray
 Vanished long ago,
Never to return
