Never the one

I was never the one,
never the one with the crown.
I didn't have no glory,
and was the joker in my own story.

I was always there,
the one to always care,
with a heart that could easily tear.

I laugh like it doesn't matter,
but deep down I would scatter.
The simplest words meant the most,
with the capacity to break me down,
and leave me all alone.

I was never the first choice,
maybe I was a choice that no one rather enjoyed.
