Never the Always

I'm always missing the point,
I'm always passing the days,
I"m always the child to anoint,
I'm always the adult at play.

I'm always the one standing out,
I'm always the last to jump in,
I'm always the word thats in doubt,
I'm always the end when you begin.

I'm never the fool full of pride,
I'm never the weak sense of self,
I'm never the ticket to ride,
I'm never the book on a shelf.

I'm never the head screwed on straight,
I'm never the fold or the bend,
I'm never the reason to wait,
I'm never the always you can depend.

I'm never the always,
I'm never, I'm never, I am.
