Never That Far Apart
You were my everything
Why did you leave me
To you I’ll forever cling
From my love you’ll never be free
It all started on the beach
The first place we met
You had heard a loud screech
Because I’d gotten wet
You immediately came up to me
And offered your shirt
Kindness from you was a guarantee
I was certain by you I would not be hurt
After a while a relationship bloomed
We had a special connection
A bond that would soon be entombed
But we’d never lose our affection
You asked me to marry you
On that beautiful sea shore
Sitting in a canoe
I said yes and much more
It seemed as if it was happily ever after
We had a tiny little baby
Life was great thereafter
Till that day so dark and hazy
You were driving home from work
Just having a normal day
Then you got a call from the clerk
And from the road you looked away
In an instant it was past
You became no more
Our happy life didn’t last
Where it began on the shore
I’ll never forget you
Forever you’ll be in my heart
Even though that day I can’t undo
We are never that far apart
