Never Really There

You told me I could save you,
You told me that you cared.
You lied and said you loved me,
When you were never really there.

I see your fragile, guilty heart.
You say you would never tear me apart.
You want to care, and you’ll never leave.
Though, you still continue to deceive.

I watch you walking down the street.
Never spoke a word that you were going to meet,
That guy you loved from so long ago,
You told me that you hated him though.

A few minutes passed after you left,
I knew where you were off to, so I took the time and wept.
A few of the most helpless minutes of my life.
You had me cowering in a corner where you stabbed me with a knife.

I bleed and cry and die away.
You come home, scream at me, and then you’re off again.
If I get lucky, you’ll be a bit kind.
Those are the days that he is left behind.

You hold me and kiss me so tenderly.
Make me feel prized and splendidly.
I look in your eyes and I see a black hole,
I don’t care, I love every inch of your soul.

I knew one day that off you’d go,
And leave me here in the darkness alone.
I saw it all coming. Why didn’t I runaway?
Now that you’re gone, there’s not much I can say.

My hope is gone. My heart is wilted.
I believe that my whole world has tilted.
I’ll never be the same again.
I believe this is my hearts true end.
