Never Last

He stood alone arms raised high
Felt as if he could touch the sky
Looked around and saw his past
Nothing there can ever last
Moving smoothly like a ghost
Looking once, twice at most
Felt the wind go thru his bones
Everybody faceless drones

In the valley between the trees
Head down he's on his knees
Eyes wide open head thrown back
Hard to see in such pitch black
Memories standing in the rain
Faces twisted full of pain
Reaching out to touch the night
Memories flutter taking flight

Pushed beyond the breaking point
His wish was never to disappoint
The truth is always darker still
Hands tied up no time to kill
Wishes died and murdered hope
Swinging twisting at end of rope
Thoughts impaled time harassed
Memories outline never lasts

Scott, sad... a deep read. Wish everything came with a risking your heart note. SKAT

Thanks, SKAT. It was one of those that just sort of writes itself. It wasn't until after I was done that I realized what it was about. Memory loss. Crazy huh.
