Never Have I Felt So Small
Never have I felt so small
As when standing by the sea—
Perhaps it was its vastness,
Or maybe it was me?
The water, it seemed endless,
The horizon out of view—
I felt fragile as the butterfly
That sips the morning dew.
And standing there the longest while,
For an hour—or even two—
I observed the sea was still as large,
Though my inches just as few.
And yet I left a taller man,
Though in stature as a bee—
Quite in awe of nature’s grandeur,
Though it took the sea, to see!
