Never Forget

breathe it in and
try and save it
maybe hold it and
then it will last, no
cherish the thought that
the rest will soon pass
days long forgotten
never coming back
but still smile when
remembering laughs
and all of the good
treasure this fondly
just like you should
even all the times
you’d like to forget
any words you wish
you never had said
sometimes it just
doesn’t make sense
so many layers
so much depth, but with
so much certainty
for once you were whole
you felt so safe
and right at home
so savor it all
take it and never
forget, let it fill you up
it won’t come again
but you didn’t know
It would happen so fast
all you did was blink
now it’s just the past
