Never Become a Memory

New dawns break
Still my heart can’t shake
New love to take over my life
One step closer to wanting a wife

The ghosts in my heart confess
No more distorted realities
No more sleepless nights
No more dramatic fights

Just happy smiles
Missing you all the “whiles”
I sleep I eat I chill with my boys
When you cease to be there
Feelings appear out of thin air
Like the voices in my head that tell me to wish you near
Drifting emotional mist blankets my mind
Covers my fears and leaves everything white
Boundless expanses of adore

Hold you in my arms
And suddenly I need nothing more
Love speaks definitions I never knew
Till I heard you say that you loved me too
Couldn’t find my way till
Your smile pointed the way
To your heart
The ghost of my past
Beg you to never join them

The ones that now walk like ghosts
The ones that only served to intensify my thirst
Only spoke the words of the game
Never thought about love till I spoke your name
