Never
We fight for God or glory,
Which, I can’t recall;
The second oldest story—
The first was Adam’s fall.
The second was a killing,
Brothers fighting fierce;
A story we’re fulfilling
As blades and bullets pierce.
We never stop to wonder
Never hear the cry
Of conscience, muffled under,
The stifled, sobbing “Why?”
