Nerd's Cry

Once upon a time,
We debated philosophy,
And argued science,
Phones off,
Emotions with your body next to mine.
Staring at stars,
With no screens blinding out eyes.
Your mind was my favorite book,
But I guess good things fade fast.
Now,
Your best friends are filters.
You only hold a book in your hand if it makes you a more suitable slave for the economy.
Emotions turned into emojis,
Stars turned into superstars and celebrities.
You disappeared into the crowds we once ran away from. Einstein said,
When you stop learning,
You stay dying.
Today I bring you flowers,
And I tuck my tears behind my eyes.
How is the afterlife?
