Neither Riches Nor Titles
Neither riches or titles can assure happiness and freedom;
one can have treasures of green and gold,
but they can't reverse age when one gets old...
is it worth living in any mansion and dying of boredom?
Neither riches or titles can guarantee a ticket to Heaven;
salvation is not bought but truly earned,
why were saints and friars so dedicated?
Didn't they follow Christ while others indulged in sin?
Neither riches nor titles are accepted or even hallowed
in the kingdom of righteousness, not of social flair;
will God choose a man of faith or a vile man so wretched?
No need to say whom He will accept as His heir.
Neither riches nor titles can promise a prominent place
in a Paradise where all are called to give praise;
sell all your treasures and get rid of your vanity...
become humble, pray as the faithful and seek the needy.
