Negativity Killed Naivety

I'm a licensed realist
selling beach front pessimism
to all you sunny 'bright side' kids
with your cheery dispositions

it's about time your perfect rosy worlds
got a little screwed and jaded
'cause you'll find this world's just a bit more cold
than the one you'd anticipated

you didn't factor in loneliness
when you dreamt up your perfect Oz
and when you sat and thought about 'happily ever after'
you didn't think about loss

see this life is full of few ups but more downs
and soon you'll come to realize
that no one can live a fairy tale
and there's rarely a dream that doesn't die
