Nature's Decay and Rebirth
Flowers fade and decay through wintry hours- waiting for rebirth.
~Constance La France
Summer flowers are dead and gone,
autumn leaves now cover the ground
at our feet, wind is tuning winter's song,
soon all will be homebound.
Jack Frost will be visiting soon,
the sun stays in bed until noon,
the north star can no longer be trusted,
weather vanes are rusted.
Snow is designing the process
of time as it does each season,
but hearth fires are warm, I gladly confess,
door shut for a reason!
Ice and snow keeps seedlings asleep
to gather strength for spring's green leap~
snowdrops and crocus are first to pop up,
bees come in now to sup.
The sun's warmth thaws out the garden,
flowers laugh giving free pardon
to those having hidden from winter's breach,
come out now, we beseech!
