Anonymous poem that struck a cord Written by soldier amid discord Cold and frightened in trench with gun He stood his ground and did not run. Nameless poem found one peaceful day Horror of war soldier did convey Poignant words made one reflect Thought of war we do reject. Poppies worn on Remembrance Day Think of words written far away They did survive we do respect Nameless poet who served to protect.
