Mysteries of the Past

Discovered deep within the underground caverns
Hidden away from the generations past
Cave drawings of things they seen
Now we try to discipher what they mean.

Words found written in stone
A foreign language all their own
Some people eventually became extinct
Wonder what befell to lose a link

Ancient wonders that were left behind
Some still standing from centuries past
Others disappeared beneath the sand
Only to be dug by modern man.

Stories written in yesteryear
Some very precise and others unclear
Telling us how to find artifacts of the past
Needing us to discover them at last.

and yet another! YOu are on a poetic roll. I guess it does you good to not be working!! I just love that last part, how artifacts are needing us to discover them .

Your fascination is passed on to the rest of us. A great mystery to ponder Phyl, I don't suppose we will ever know the whole story.
