My Worst Fear
I find it's a terrifying and paralyzingly cold thought
To consider revealing the Fear that leaves you your most defenseless and fraught
With paranoia and shudders and nightmare-plagued sleep.
My Fear is that dark vulnerability that I keep hidden oh so deep.
I don't believe in aliens, they just make me laugh
That little guy with the Hershey candy and a neck like a giraffe?
It's just the same with ghosts, Jersey Devils, Big Foot, vampires
They're not that scary despite them being box office frequent fliers.
And darkness doesn't scare me because I usually just start snoring
Man-eating sharks and venomous snakes to me are rather boring.
A werewolf howl, a zombie scream are supposed to signal the end
But I am here to tell the truth, they don't exist, my friend!
There's just one thing that makes the hair on my arms stand on end
My blood runs cold and my courage gauge starts quickly to descend
I wake up in the morning and quickly run to find my phone
Because my greatest fear, is to be left here all . . .
. . . Alone.
