My Worst Addiction
Throughout most of my life,
my addiction has troubled me.
I was tightly in its hold;
I couldn't seem to get free.
Addiction pulled and pulled
until it finally pulled me down.
It robbed me of everything
except embarrassment and a frown.
But it made me get help.
I was dedicated to recovery,
breaking away from addiction
and the hold it had on me.
But addiction is tricky,
and I fell into its trap.
Now this new addiction
is sitting on my lap.
Of all the addictions I've had,
this one is for sure the worst.
It's the love of a woman;
with this I've been cursed.
