My Words, Our Words
My Words, Our Words
Kevin Davis 2025
My words begin in quiet places,
Deep inside where thought first stirs.
They rise and wait for their right moment,
Softly forming into words.
When they are ready, I sit down,
Hoping they’ll come out clean and true.
And when I’m stuck, I ask for help,
Just searching for the perfect clue.
Then like magic, something opens,
And the needed word appears.
Or my wife will offer something new,
A truth my heart already hears.
I read the lines aloud to her,
She smiles and says I’ve doubled a phrase.
We laugh to find our voices woven,
Two minds meeting in gentle ways.
It shows our thoughts are growing together,
A gift I hope will last forever.
So with these words, I thank you deeply,
Your presence makes my writing better.
And as long as thoughts keep rising in me,
I’ll set them down without a doubt.
For they are pieces of my life,
And sharing them is what life’s about.
