My Way

I am going my way and doing my thing
And I’m doing what I need to do
It’s what I have to do, it is my way to sing
And I hope that you’re doing that too

It is my life to spend, it is my life to live
There’s no other way that it can be
For if I do not it is not fair to me
As it would be unfair to you too

If I changed to meet you I’d give up part of me
I’d expect you to do just the same
So then you’d not be you and I’d not be me
And neither’d be true to their name

We are sovereign souls and we’re on our own path
Doing what we came here to do
It’s a solitary trip for each one to achieve
For me as well as for you

We must learn from each other whether sister or brother
Or as friends, or just ships in the night
Seeking only to grow from what we come to know
At all times only doing what’s right

When I’m unjust to you by the things that I do
It’s reflected back into my soul
And its’ karma persists and pushes me back
So I’m further away from my goal

There is only one way, just be true to yourself
Keep the goal of your growth in view
Never try to be different just to meet someone else
For you sacrifice being just you

You must learn how to love, you must start with yourself
So you have the love in you to share
It’s the right way to live, you will have it to give
To everyone, any time, anywhere
