My True Apology

I’ll respect your anger
and all of your confusion
but don’t hide behind a wall of hate
or draw unfair conclusions
I tried through my accomplishments
to keep our family one
but by the time I recognized the flaws
the damage had been done

All I ever wanted
was for you to love your lives
but it seems too late to fix it all
so we must compromise
and I can still love you
though you hold a grudge for me
if you’ll consider this to be
my true apology

I believe many of us have faced these same feelings at times. But, we can only do what we can do, if we try our best and the worst happens, then it does. I like your poetry Gayle, it always touches a nerve in me (in a good way) Thanks for sharing.
