My Today and Tomorrow

Memories of a tomorrow
that never came.
The things I miss
will be the same.
I wish I'd asked for more time to borrow.
When moments turn to memories
you're all I see.
When my days feels hollow
you remind me that
life is more than sorrow.
You lift me up,
filling the air with laughter.
Will you be my before and after?
I wish I could trade one day
to be your today and tomorrow,
because when I'm like this,
I wish I would have stayed.
Every tomorrow becomes today
and I'm sorry is more than I can say.
Breaking,
right down the middle,
I played your heart like a fiddle.
The love inside
will never die,
it eases my mind
to picture your smile
and it kills me a little with each goodbye.
I can't let go,
you're like hot coal,
you're a thief
and I'm the heart you stole.
You're what I miss,
I miss when our souls would kiss.

Dedicated to an unknown lover.
