My Time
There have been many days where time seemed to slip away
I wrestled with the enemy who tried to end my stay
Quickly fleeing through my hands as I watch in disbelief
No one helped me as I walked or offered me relief
Watching through the moving mist I let just time slip away
I didn’t realize the blessing of having one more day
Sometimes it seemed an enemy was rooting for the end of me
He pushes and he curses and hopes that I can’t see
Pushed onward through a darkened maze, but aha, there is light
I can see it always shining even through the darkest night
If I just look at the brighter things I’ll see it there to guide
I need to do some steering, not just be here for the ride
I must find the purpose in my time as I stumble on ahead
And I know the light will lead me if I look upward as I’m led
