My Spirit

My spirit cannot be broken
No matter how hard you try
I hold it tight deep down inside
Until the day I die

My spirit cannot be broken
It makes up the best of me
It makes me whole, deepens my soul
It helps me to be free

My spirit cannot be broken
Although the world does try
But see, I know who I am
Keeping my eyes on the prize

My spirit cannot be broken
A feat I deem impossible
And in the end it will remain
Even if nothing else does

I often write more intense poems when I'm sad too, Kimberly. The humorous poems are a lot of fun to write, but the sad ones feel like a release of negative emotions. I understand how you feel. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great weekend! Love, Carolyn

Bravo, Kimberly! How wonderful it is to read such an uplifting poem. So many poems deal gloomily with strife. I applaud you for having a feisty spirit that will not be broken. Love, Carolyn
