My Soul’s Reason (DHR)

2025, at the end of September
Such a time as this, I remember

His brain finally free from radiation
Oh, such a blessing – feel the elation!

As the tree’s leaves quietly floated down,
Breath of wind’s caress in red, gold and brown

Quietly dancing on the songs of twilight
Finding the star’s joy laughing on the night

End of September, rains pounding out a prayer
Echoed in a song of praise, gentle words so rare

Soothing thoughts whisper their story,
Melody of a life, who believes in God’s glory

Cancer is just another disease to fight
And God is with us, His love shining bright

When the choice of faith came to our aid
We knew the meaning of hope that won’t fade

The year has passed, and September must surely end
But not without the assurance that God is our friend

He wrote of His love in every note of our journey
As we traveled through chemo, radiation, life’s gurney

His still, small voice rose to reveal a devotion
In spite of cancer, His love is bigger than the ocean

September ends with a tender prayer of hope
Knowing that Jesus is always there to help us cope

Wisdom and praise, they go hand in hand
When you see one set of footprints in the sand

Heavenly angels can tell me how great is His love
I couldn’t believe them until He came down from above

At the end of September, my prayer remains the same
Please take away this fear that has cancer as its name

Leave off the worry, the fear and the dread
Let me only know the wonder of those leaves in red

Hear the still, small voice of His sweet grace
I know that He will help us through what we face

I treasure this feeling, this faith that keeps me sane
I will ever praise my Savior who quiets the darkest pain

As the end of September, 2026 rolls closer to me
I know you must see that faith has been the key

Free from the worry, free from the fear
Because He heals completely, I won’t shed a tear

Rising from the still, cool breath of this season
I know this man named Jesus is my soul’s true reason

A very beautiful and moving poem of faith, resilience and overcoming one of the most scary illnesses anyone has to face. The fight will always be there when the reason is strong, faith and support topping the bill. 🌸🌸🌸
