My Son's Resting Place
All paths lead back to this place
Where you rest in eternal peace
Today a white blanket of nature
Keeps you in God’s warm embrace
Snowflakes fall around me in silence
Each one bringing a treasured memory
I look expectantly toward heaven
And feel them on my upturned face
They cover my tears of grief
Cleansing my heart with hope
A renewal of lost faith
Is found in their pure essence
As I toil to clear your bed
I find a message from your friends
The red crimson of love
Tells me you are remembered
Your life had meaning and purpose
To make me a better man
You still walk side by side with me
With that ever-present smile lighting my way
Leaving you here is always hard
But I can hear you whisper to me
That this is not your place
And you are truly home
