My Son

He's a thinker and he thinks
Into deep thought he sinks
Knowing life will be his greatest education

He's a writer and he writes
Of brighter days and starry nights
And a future filled with hope and expectation

He's a dreamer and he dreams
All his plans and all his schemes
Are a direct result of all that he's been taught

He's a doer and he does
And it's only just because
He's learned to give it everything he's got

He's a giver and he gives
And he loves the way he lives
But there's still so much he doesn't understand

He's a talker and he talks
As we take our evening walks
Of the days to come when he becomes a man.

I love this wonderful poem Vince! Being a parent comes easy, but being a GOOD parent is one of the most difficult tasks and blessings in the world. You have expressed this so beautifully in your poem. Congratulations on having your poem featured this week.7 ;

Our children hold such promise....yet it takes life experiences to really fulfill their capabilities... This is such an insightful poem, the pride in your son...and the hope that still lies in his future. I'm enjoying these earlier poems of yours, and I thank you so much for commenting on some of my earlier works. Those we wrote "yesterday" often get lost in the time warp! :) I appreciate you checking now and then. Love, Carrie
