My Religion

i am the hush between two heartbeats—
the unspoken yes—
that leaps from the lips of air
to kiss the morning.

my church is a leaf trembling—
my priest a bee drunk with sun—
my prayer a fingertip on your skin
saying nothing but meaning all.

god? (she dances barefoot
through the rain i am)
and every drop remembers
what i forgot—to feel.

when i die (if dying be real)
bury me in the word alive—
for my religion a intoxicant
is breathing all of you.
