My Raw Inner Echo

In the late 2018 to early 2019
Epic perhaps, there was a missed opportunity?
From a challenge contest to pen another poem
But this is stuff that men say in an asylum

At the time my ideas were a jumble of mess
Could this be part of a hero's quest?

The lame duck state governor was speaking on campus
An acquaintance shared a seat reserved for our class

Didn’t want to attract attention
What my mind wished to mention
And the media’s condescension

You will see me in the dictionary, academically
“Glean, an unclean leper between Samaria and Galilee"

So I put my head down, smiled with a frown, walked away,
On top of that, hail fell from clouds dark and gray

But what I failed to say that day
"Hello world. My name is J"

"One moment of your time"
(Got to think of a rhyme)

"Sixty seconds is all I need"
If he agreed
The icebreaker joke
I would have spoke

"What does Pink Floyd and George Bush both share in common?
I cannot breathe! A Derek Zoolander quote about a future problem"

(Pff. Today’s accusation)
(The confusion?) " Crickets" (ovation)
(Writing has its limitation)

"But when you get it...it’s lightning on mural’s foundation"

"My actual question is, if a plague struck the morrow,
Linked to a foul chi fellow"

"With a made-up place—land of Gohan
From some lab institution in Wuhan"

"And you had to wear an M-95 mask
With your power and task"

"Would you close the state for weeks, months, or years?
Thank you for your time (cheers)"
