My Pencil's Waiting

My pencil’s waiting patiently
To transfer what I think
Onto pages in my notebook
(More erasable than ink).

It follows my commands and yet
The words are then erased,
Rejected for another round
With which they are replaced.

This No. 2 is not at fault
If I don’t want to write
Of sickness, aging or the news,
Or any other plight.

And thus I jot a little rhyme,
So I’m not out of joint,
To get my pencil working
For, of course, that is its point.

I too jot an idea for a poem when it rushes into my head, but my handwriting has become almost illegible that I have difficulty reading what I write! Usually I prefer typing my ideas. / Maurice

- Yes, every idea has to be written down, Ilene ... it doesn't always turn into a poem :) - hugs

Pencils can have 'lead in their pants' sometimes. Heh-heh. ~ gw

OMG I love this little jingle that is eerily reminiscent of another poem I recently posted. But "My Pencil's Waiting" is a "point" well taken and one that serves to inspire and lift any poet's heart & soul! Kudos, Ilene

I begin each poem with pencil and paper. My muse seems to prefer it that way. Lovely poem, my friend.

I would always jot my thoughts down using a pen or pencil but when my hubby put a voice recorder on my phone it transformed things as I can just keep re recording as my ideas come to me, I have have 10 or more snippets when inspiration hits! So glad you are on the up Ilene, hope you are both on the road to recovery. hugs jan xx
