My Parting Gifts
My time has come and I have to go;
There are just three things I want you to know:
The first, is important, so don’t ever forget it;
If you never take a chance, you will live to regret it.
The second is something I think you should hear;
Don’t take for granted loved ones who always stay near.
It is easy to grow complacent and want something new,
But the love that is lasting is the love that is true.
And lastly, my child, before I depart,
Please think with your head, but follow your heart;
Be true to yourself and heed my advice,
Before opening your mouth, you ought to think twice.
